Näyttely Suomen lasimuseossa 28.9.2007 - 6.4.2008
Saksalaisen Hallen taideteollisen korkeakoulun BURG GIEBICHENSTEINin juuret ovat 1920-luvulla, jolloin Gerhard Marcks, Weimarin Bauhaus-koulun entinen professori, muotoili Jenan lasitehtaalle SINTRAX-kahvinkeittimen, yhden suurista muotoiluikoneista. Vuonna 1966 BURG GIEBICHENSTEINiin perustettiin instituutti ja lasimuotoilun professuuri. Osaston päätavoitteena on ollut koko ajan funktionaalisten käytännöllisten esineiden muotoilu. Oppilaita kannustettiin ajattelemaan tuoteperheittäin. Vuodesta 1990 kuuluisa saksalainen lasimuotoilija Prof. Michael Boehm on kuulunut koulun opettajakuntaan. Hän on muotoillut lasia maailman johtaville lasitehtaille ja tuotemerkeille kuten V&B, Zwiesel 1872, Leonardo ja Rosenthal.
Suomen lasimuseossa nähtävä studionäyttely kertoo Hallen BURG GIEBICHENSTEINin lasiopetuksesta yli 40 vuoden ajalta. Useimmat esineet on tehty GLASMANUFAKTUR HARZKRISTALL GmbH:ssa Derenburg/Harzissa sijaitsevassa lasitehtaassa.

The exhibition shows 64 student works from five decades.
Burg Giebichenstein - University of Art and Design Halle has been a recognized institution of higher education since 1958. It was developed from 1915 onwards by the architect Paul Thiersch, creating a modern school of arts and crafts dedicated to the "Werkstätten" tradition. The profile of the school was formed by the legacy of the "Deutscher Werkbund". Consequently, the hallmarks of the school have been: hand-craft tradition, individual artistic work, industrial and small scale production, as well as architecture and architecture related art.
Today the program of the Faculty of Designoffers a wide-ranging training in design, teaching students the skills necessary for the solving of concrete, spatial, and process-related problems. It anticipates coming demands in the area of design and encourages students to develop alternative methods and concepts through experimental work.
