New Stained Glass in Finland

Exhibition at the Finnish Glass Museum from Sept. 29th to Dec. 31st, 2006

The exhibition jury was chaired by Professor Algirdas Dovydénas of Vilnius with curator Leena Ahtola-Moorhouse of the Finnish National Gallery and the artist Lea Swantz appointed by the Finnish Glass Artists' Association as members, and as secretary Vesa Anttila from the Finnish Glass Museum. The jury chose works of high professional artistic and technical level, with distinctive personal style, the aim being to show diversity of contemporary stained glass in Finland. A disciplined approach to the subject typical to decades before the 1960s has given way to permissiveness and individual expression underscoring the artists' own will and ability to perceive their own transparent light through stained glass and to turn it into an experience for the viewer. The exhibition includes works by the following artists:

Erkki Anttila, Sari Eskelinen, Mary Jane Gregory, Soili Halonen-Mikkonen, Jari Hangassalo, Pekka Jauhiainen, Eija Kempus, Kari Kuisma, Reija Kykkänen, Tiina Lasaroff, Lauri Levanto, Marjatta Lipponen, Reetta Marjamäki, Veijo Muroke, Tuija Sarantila, Olli Saviainen, Andrij Stasevskij, Irma Suorsa, Kyllikki Susi, Riikka Säteri, Teija Takala, Minna Tuohisto-Kokko, Heikki Ulvi, Eeva Vainio, Veli-Matti Varjo, Merja Virta
