Exhibition in the Finnish Glass Museum in Riihimäki from Feb. 16 to April 22, 2007
The glass studio of the Institute for Arts and Crafts (IKA) at Mechelen, Belgium was started in 1985 by the Czech glass artist Miloslava Svobodová. The school is part of the unique Flemish system of part-time art education. The institute provides evening and weekend courses open to anyone aged 18 and older. The starting point is not techniques for their own sake, but the use of techniques to give shape to ideas, with a great deal of attention given to composition and design. The courses take seven years: five years for the Certificate of Higher Secondary Education and two years of specialisation.
